We strongly discourage the use of the word "safe" to describe a neighborhood, building, or space in all listings. We truly appreciate the willingness to create conscious and comfortable spaces for all folks. However, in real estate, "safe" has a history of being a coded word associated with gentrification and racial prejudice. Rather than describing your space this way, we believe that sharing more specific and personal impressions of your space and neighborhood strengthens the transparency of your listing. Additionally, we also recognize that issues of safety are deeply personal and different for everyone. Rather than imposing your idea of safety on someone else, we encourage you to describe what about the space makes you feel comfortable. Finally, we want justice to be the framework, not unchecked power and privilege.
